Ingrown or Traumatic Fingernail/Toenail Management

Ingrown finger or toenails can be acquired conditions that can be exquisitely painful and can lead to more serious conditions such as infection. Dr. Clearfield frequently manages these conditions and can perform an in-office minor surgical procedure to partially or fully remove the nail.

Another painful condition of the fingernail or toenail is a subungual hematoma which is a collection of blood under the nail that occurs after a crush injury. These typically occur after dropping something on your toe or slamming your finger in a door. This can be extremely painful and Dr. Clearfield can quickly relieve the pressure under the nail by performing a simple procedure. This may be combined with performing a “digital block” of the finger or toe to numb the pain as it is being performed.
